How to Put on a Great Event

It's something that we may all have to do once in a while, organise an event.
Whether it's an event for your childs school, a business networking event, a wedding, party or maybe even an exhibition. There are loads of different events that you can organise and run.
How to put on the perfect event. Whatever your chosen event is it's key to use the same criteria each time.
Why is this important? Well think back to any wedding you went to. You always remember the bad experiences as well as the fantastic ones, but maybe not the ok ones!
You need to make your event one to be remembered for being fantastic!
  • Always think from the perspective of the person attending the event.
  • If you're charging for your event, ask yourself 'would I pay that for this?'
  • Have you asked attendees to your event if they have any dietary requirements?
  • Have you supplied a wide range of food at your event, people always place importance on range of food.
  • Have you supplied enough food at your event? Is it an all day event? Does the event finish so late that the attendee can't get food afterwards?
  • Are the attendees going to be entertained for the duration before the event starts while you are still greeting guests
  • Think of space, light and temperature. I ran a business networking event in Hertford once in which the heating was broken. People spent the entire 2 hours shivering in their coats! Not good.
  • Parking is key. Remember you're there early so you can get parked easily. Can everyone else?
  • Get help if you need it! It seems as though people are so stubborn when organising an event. They want to look like they did all themselves. If you don't hold a great event and you're solely responsible, then it's all your fault!
All of these are common sense tips but ones that are so often missed by event organisers. So make sure your event is remembered for all the right reasons!
